From 1983 to 1984 there began several unexplainable mass sightings of large boomerang shaped UFO’s which centered around the states of New York and Western Connecticut. During the incident thousands of people reported seeing the objects. Witnesses described them as each being the size of a football field. They were usually in a V shape, but several of them were circular and completely silent. Most of the objects were outlined in brilliant white, red and sometimes green lights. Many of the eyewitness reported that the objects would sometimes hover completely still or shoot straight up into the sky at incredible rates of speed.
One of the most interesting sightings occurred twice over the Indian Point Nuclear Power Plant which was located in Buchanan West Chester County New York. The fist incident occurred on July 14, 1984. According to one of the guards who was there that night he described the object to be around 100 feet in length. Then he confided that the object hovered over the plant completely stationary for around 15 minutes more or less. He also said that the object was absolutely silent. Then it flew off into the distance at a high rate of speed. The second incident occurred on July 24, 1984. Another large boomerang shaped flying again began to hover over the power plant. This time, the security guards were given the order to break out the shotguns. As before, the V shaped flew off after a little less than 15 minutes. It has often been noted that UFO’s seem to be attracted to nuclear power plants and to military facilities that house nuclear weapons.
Irene Lunn, a resident of Mahopac New York, came forward and stated that one of the boomerang shaped flew slowly overhead near her home. She described the craft as boomerang shaped with some type of structure in the shape of an L attached underneath. She said it was completely silent as it flew by and had green, white and red lights all around the exterior of the craft. She reported that the object was just a little smaller than her home.
Another eyewitness named William Pollard stated that while as he was driving on interstate 84 he spotted one of the Triangle shaped UFO’s hovering about 30 to 40 feet above a field. He said that it was gigantic and as he was watching it, the craft turned off it’s lights and shot off at high rate of speed straight up through the clouds.
Dr. J Allen Hynek, the famous scientist who was part of project blue book stated that this particular mass sighting could have several explanations. He had been told that it could be pilots flying in formation. But that would not account for several credible eyewitness reports that stated that these objects could hover in place, were silent or nearly silent and we’re capable of flying off at astounding speeds. Even modern aircraft are unable to duplicate these attributed flight characteristics. He publicly acknowledged that he was at a loss to explain the phenomenon. Interestingly, the Hudson Valley sightings seem to have a lot of similarities with Belgium mass sightings of large boomerang UFO’s that occurred from 1989 to 1990.
